The surfEXPLORE Group is a multinational collective dedicated to the discovery, documentation and conservation of new surfing locations worldwide.
The principals are: John Seaton Callahan (USA), Emiliano Cataldi (ITA-AUS), and Erwan Simon (FRA) with frequent guest surfers.
The surfEXPLORE Group has produced more than 40 projects in Africa, Asia and the Americas with over 5 000 verified pages and 100 cover images of published print and digital media materials worldwide.
The surfEXPLORE Group has published a book en français of ten surfEXPLORE destinations, with text by Erwan Simon and photography by John Seaton Callahan.
The surfEXPLORE Group has filmed and broadcast episodes of our television series surfEXPLORE with Puzzle Media, broadcast en français on the Planete+ and France O networks worldwide.
In 2020, after a decade of worldwide surf exploration in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas, the surfEXPLORE Group has expanded into a brand with a new line of original shirts, shorts and accessories.

John Seaton Callahan is the Creative Director at surfEXPLORE.
John was raised in Hawaii and Japan. He is a UCLA graduate, USA citizen and Singapore Permanent Resident.
John is a Getty Images, iStock and Alamy photographer with 120+ international cover images for books and magazines.
John began his surfing odyssey at Kuhio Beach in Waikiki in 1969, and still finds waves, surfing and the world’s oceans to be endlessly fascinating subjects.
